Type I Scholarships

Each senior who has completed an application will be automatically considered for the following scholarships. Each application is rated on the criteria previously mentioned under the Scholarship Information Tab, as well as the criteria listed under each scholarship.

Minnechaug Regional High School Graduates apply for scholarshipsWILBRAHAM-HAMPDEN FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS (Several @ $1000)

  • Accepted to a two-year or four-year college
  • Academic standing is a consideration
  • Financial need is a strong consideration

THE WHSF FRANCIS S. PYCHEWICZ SCHOLARSHIP ($1000)

  • Presented annually to a Senior boy or girl in honor of MSF Treasurer Emeritus Francis S. Pychewicz for his years of service to the Foundation.
  • Senior who intends to major in Engineering or Computer Science
  • Progressive improvement in academic standing during high school
  • Demonstrated dedication to community service
  • Financial need is a strong consideration

JERRY A. BADGER SCHOLARSHIP ($300)

  • Good academic standing
  • Participation in some type of community work, such as scouts, YMCA/YWCA, or church, to be elaborated on in the essay.

ROBERT H. BOHLKE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($1000)

  • Senior who intends to pursue a degree in the Social Science

JOHN S. BORDENUK SCHOLARSHIP (2 @ $500)

  • Awarded to a senior interested in the field of horticulture or agriculture
  • Potential as determined by an essay and recommendation by the Guidance Department
  • Activities, honors and awards are contributing factors
  • Intends to pursue a career in one of the following: horticulture, agriculture or business
  • Good academic standing

SHAWN COURTNEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (2 @ $1,000)

  • Senior boy and Senior girl
  • Attending a 4-year college
  • Has a family member currently serving or who has served in the military

 

ERVIN & HARRIS LANDSCAPING ENTREPRENEUR SCHOLARSHIP (2 @ $500)

  • Presented annually to a Senior from Hampden and a Senior from Wilbraham who exemplify the Ervin & Harris
    entrepreneurial spirit and years of dedicated service.
  • Strong work ethic, community spirit, self-motivation, and caring attitude
  • Work experience with good references (verbal OK)
  • Interested in field of Horticulture or Agriculture
  • Financial need will be a consideration

EDDIE FALLON AND JONNY GREGOIRE “LIVE BIG” SCHOLARSHIP ($1000)

  • Captain of athletic team
  • Expresses passion in pursuing college degree (no specific major) or vocational training
  • Demonstrates genuine and consistent care and concern for others
  • Known for compassion and kindness
  • C+ average/both merit and financial need based

JOHN M. FLYNN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($1500) 

  • Presented annually to a senior boy or girl in memory of John M. Flynn and his strong sense of community service
    Hampden resident
  • Active in community service – to be elaborated on in the essay
  • Accepted to a two-year or four-year college
  • Good academic standing
  • Financial need is a consideration

DR. PAUL C. GAGLIARDUCCI SCHOLARSHIP ($500)

  • Senior boy or girl who contributed to the betterment of the school and/or class
  • Student must have exhibited good citizen status
  • Student maintained passing grades

GARVEY/POST OFFICE PARK YOUNG ENTREPRENEURIAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARD ($1000)

  • Must have maintained a weighted GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Participated in an Internship program at MRHS
  • Participant in the Entrepreneur program/have taken the entrepreneur class

GFWC WILBRAHAM JR. WOMEN’S CLUB ($1000)

  • Awarded to a Senior girl
  • Must have maintained a weighted GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Active in community service – to be elaborated on in the essay
  • Resident of Hampden or Wilbraham
  • Plans to attend a four-year college

GREATHORSE SCHOLARSHIP FUND ($3500) NEW!

HAMPDEN POLICE ASSOCIATON (2 @ $250)

  • Hampden Resident
  • Student has been involved in community service
  • Good academic standing

THE INSURANCE CENTER OF NEW ENGLAND SCHOLARSHIP ($1000)

  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA
  • Engaged in community service including church, service clubs or student government,
  • And/or participated in athletics

LUSO FEDERAL CREDIT UNION SCHOLARSHIP ($1000)

  • Good academic standing – minimum 3.5 GPA to be considered
  • Community involvement
  • Involved in extracurricular school activities (not necessarily sports)
  • Bilingual a consideration – to be elaborated on in an essay
  • Financial need will be a consideration

HAROLD MILLER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($250)

  • Scholarship awarded to a Senior who consistently displays school spirit through the effort put forth in athletics
    and/or academics and is an enthusiastic member of the Minnechaug community.

MONSON SAVINGS BANK SCHOLARSHIP (3 @ $2000)

  • Good academic standing
  • Involved in his/her community
  • Involved in school activities
  • Demonstrates strong school spirit
  • Financial need is a consideration

  • Accepted to a four-year college
  • Plans to pursue a career in Business or Horticulture

  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic, including employment during the school year as evident by a written employer recommendation
  • Financial need is a consideration

PROSHRED ENTREPRENEURIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($500) 

  • Completed the Entrepreneurial class at MRHS
  • Intends to pursue a career in Business
  • Good academic standing (Honor Roll)
  • Involved in his/her community
  • Financial need can be a consideration

HENRY AND JANE PROTHERO SCHOLARSHIP (2 @ approx. $1500)

  • Strong academic achievement
  • Financial need is a consideration

RECREATION ASSOCIATION OF HAMPDEN (RAH) SCHOLARSHIP (2 @ $250)

  • Senior boy and Senior girl who participated in Town of Hampden sponsored sports
  • Hampden residents
  • Sports experience must be elaborated on in an essay

FATHER JOSEPH M. SORANNO ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP (1 @ $500, 1 @ $300, 1 @ $200)

  • Member of St. Cecilia Parish
  • Active in the Parish community – to be elaborated on in essay
  • Engaged in their community
  • Good academic standing
  • Financial need will be a consideration

  • Embodies spirit of Kindness Rocks Project and inspires others through random acts of kindness
  • Exudes positive energy and optimistic attitude
  • Demonstrates genuine respect, care and concern for others and is known for their compassionate and kind nature as noted in recommendation by Guidance Counselor
  • Participates in community service projects
  • Financial need is a consideration

THE WILLIAM AND ANNA KOBER SCHOLARSHIP ($1000)

  • Plans to pursue a career in Teaching, Nursing, or Physical Therapy
  • Demonstrates leadership in sports
  • Financial need is a consideration

MRHS ALUMNI HALL OF FAME “DO GOOD ANYWAY” SCHOLARSHIP ($1000)

  • Evidence of ongoing service and strong commitment to school and community to be elaborated on in essay
  • Good academic standing
  • Financial need a consideration

PIONEER VALLEY FINANCIAL GROUP SCHOLARSHIP ($1000)

  • Active in your community
  • Active in extracurricular activities (not necessarily sports)
  • Good academic standing – minimum of 3.5 GPA to be considered

PROJECT BLUEBERRY SCHOLARSHIP ($1000)

  • Plans to pursue Video/Film Producing, Journalism, or Writing, or major in English
  • Financial need is a consideration

WILBRAHAM HILL CLIMB SCHOLARSHIP ($1500)

  • Good academic standing
  • Engineering Major
  • Demonstrated work ethic
  • Involved in community service
  • Financial need

THE WILBRAHAM SHOPS SCHOLARSHIP ($1000)

  • Intends to pursue a career in Business
  • Completed Entrepreneurship or Business class at MRHS
  • Employment history considered
