Type II Scholarships

The following scholarships are also rated on the standards mentioned previously, as well as academic achievement, financial need, an ESSAY, activities, RECOMMENDATIONS, honors and awards and the additional criteria listed under each heading. These scholarships also require a separate recommendation, although it need only be a short statement of support.

BOSTON ROAD ANIMAL HOSPITAL SCHOLARSHIP ($700)

  • Minnechaug Regional High School Graduates apply for scholarshipsExemplifies scholarship, integrity, involvement and sincere intent to pursue a career in the biological sciences
  • Requires RECOMMENDATION from the Science Department

DONALD NORMAN COREY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($1500)

  • Student must have maintained a high grade point average in mathematics in grades 9-12; honors classes and the number of mathematics courses taken are a consideration
  • A Senior who exhibits a degree of conscientiousness and dedication through his/her participation in mathematics related activities
  • Financial need is a consideration
  • Requires RECOMMENDATION from the Mathematics Department

PETER J. DELANEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($500)

  • Average scholastic achievement record
  • Participation in inter-scholastic, inter-mural, or organized community athletic program
  • Requires RECOMMENDATION from the Industrial Arts or Art Department to recognize extra effort

ELAINE T. HOLDSWORTH STRINGS INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP ($500)

  • Participated in the high school Strings Program 3 of their 4 years
  • Submit an essay about how music will play a part in their life in the future
  • Requires RECOMMENDATION from the Fine Arts Department Chair

SUSAN JONES MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($300)

  • Interest in humanities
  • Notable personal growth and leadership potential
  • Contribution to the growth or progress of others
  • Requires RECOMMENDATION from the English Department

Minnechaug Regional High School Graduates apply for scholarshipsJOHN EDWARD KOBER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (approx. $300)

  • Recognized as a good citizen
  • Intends to pursue a career in physical education, education, or other youth-related field
  • Intends to pursue a career in agriculture (2nd preference)
  • Requires RECOMMENDATION from the Physical Education Department

ROY S. BROWN SCHOLARSHIP ($1000)

  • Awarded to a Senior boy
  • Accepted to a two- or four-year college
  • Must have maintained a “B” or better average for four years at Minnechaug
  • Participation in at least one Varsity or JV sport
  • Work experience with a good reference (verbal ok) summer job and/or after school and weekends.
  • Must have a strong work ethic
  • Financial need is a consideration
