The following scholarships have a specific RECOMMENDATION requirement, although it need only be a short statement of support.
ROY S. BROWN SCHOLARSHIP (1 @ $1,000)
- Awarded to a Senior boy
- Accepted to a two- or four-year college
- Must have maintained a “B” or better average for four years at Minnechaug
- Participation in at least one Varsity or JV sport
- Work experience with a good RECOMMENDATION
- Must have a strong work ethic
- Financial need is a consideration
DONALD NORMAN COREY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (1 @ $1,500)
- Student must have maintained a high grade point average in mathematics in grades 9-12; honors classes and the number of mathematics courses taken are a consideration
- A Senior who exhibits a degree of conscientiousness and dedication through his/her participation in mathematics related activities
- Financial need is a consideration
- Requires RECOMMENDATION from the Mathematics Department
CROUSER-STAMBAUGH BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES SCHOLARSHIP (1 @ $1000)
- Exemplifies scholarship, integrity, involvement and sincere intent to pursue a career in the Biological Sciences
- Requires RECOMMENDATION from the Science Department
PETER J. DELANEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (1 @ $500)
- Average scholastic achievement record
- Participation in inter-scholastic, inter-mural, or organized community athletic program
- Requires RECOMMENDATION from the Industrial Arts or Art Department to recognize extra effort
ELAINE T. HOLDSWORTH STRINGS INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP (1 @ $500)
- Participated in the high school Strings Program 3 of their 4 years
- Submit an essay about how music will play a part in their life in the future
- Requires RECOMMENDATION from the Fine Arts Department Chair
SUSAN JONES MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (1 @ $1,000)
- Interest in humanities
- Notable personal growth and leadership potential
- Contribution to the growth or progress of others
- Requires RECOMMENDATION from the English Department
MARGARET REIDY EXCELLENCE IN MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP (2 @ $1,000)
- Awarded to a Senior boy or Senior girl
- Plans to pursue a music field in college (education, business, performance, production/technology, etc.)
- Must have participated in the Music Program at MRHS with preference given to students that have participated all four years
- GPA of 3.5 or better
- Financial need is a consideration
- Requires RECOMMENDATION from the Music Department
