Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to high school seniors who attend Minnechaug Regional High School and who reside in the towns of Wilbraham or Hampden, Massachusetts. Each year the number of scholarships awarded has increased, as has the number of applicants seeking monetary awards.
Submission of an application does not guarantee the award of a scholarship. Final selection will be made by the scholarship committee, and the distribution of scholarship money is a responsibility that the committee takes very seriously. We strive to help as many applicants as possible.
Process
Application Submission
To be considered for a scholarship award, high school seniors must submit an official application. Applications are mailed to seniors in early January and are also available for download on this page. Applications must be completed and returned with all supporting documentation as outlined on the application checklist, by the due date specified on the application. Only completed applications will be considered.
Evaluation & Selection
Upon receipt, the applications are numbered to preserve anonymity and to ensure impartial evaluation. We take into account many criteria such as academic achievement, recommendations, financial need, extracurricular activities, and community service, to name a few. Awarding of scholarships is based on meeting all application requirements, amount of money available, and the number of qualified student applicants.
Award Announcement & Presentation
Only those applicants chosen to receive an award will be notified by mail and invited to attend the Minnechaug Evening of Recognition Ceremony held at Minnechaug in mid-May. The actual scholarship announcement and presentation is made during the awards ceremony. The scholarship money is sent directly from the Wilbraham-Hampden Scholarship Foundation to the student’s college in July.
